Could this be quite possibly one of the best free deals to exist, well maybe not the best ever but it is up there with them.
Free insulation provided by the largest energy supplier in the company at a cost of around £900 per property, why would they do this.

•  Are they trying to attract new customers? ..No! 
• Are they trying to dupe us into a free offer in order to up sell other products?..No! 
• Are they genuinely trying to give property owners and tenants alike completely FREE insulation for their homes?..Yes!  

But why? 

I hear you ask, why would an energy supplier provide a service like this completely free of charge. Well the answer is imply that energy companies have been tasked with drastically reducing carbon emissions, known as ECO (Energy Companies Obligation), which was previously known as the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT). They have targets to meet that if not met could result in huge fines by the government.

One way to reduce carbon emissions is to help customers become more energy efficient. British Gas insulation helps us achieve this by reducing the amount of energy we need to heat our homes and keep them warm. Estimated figures are around £300 saving on our energy bills per year by simply insulating our homes.
 There used to be quite a lengthy list of criteria that had to be met in order to qualify, thankfully however that has all gone. The only qualifying criteria required now is the property type. So for example the property must be of brick construction, have less than 100mm existing loft insulation and been built before 1991 (all properties after this period are fully insulated). The British Gas insulation deal is open to everyone, so you do not need to be the property owner (i.e you are a tenant), you simply need written permission to have the insulation fitted, you do not even need to be a British Gas customer, and their is absolutely no catch.
