Surely this can't be right?Why would the largest energy provider in the country be giving away completely free insulation for your home, after all, they could genuinely provide this service at a cost and make a considerable profit.The answer lies in ECO, or the Energy Companies Obligation. Essentially this means that as an energy provider British Gas has to make every effort to reduce carbon emissions, so for example the new Smart meters, one way to make customers more energy efficient, thus reducing their carbon footprint.So, by giving free insulation, British Gas are helping to reduce these nasty emissions that we are all aware of. Who Can Get The British Gas Free Insulation Offer

Essentially anyone whose home qualifies, you do not have to be on any certain benefits or set income level. You do not even have to be the owner of the property or a customer of British Gas. Does my home qualify for the British Gas free insulation offer.
As a general rule you should be able to answer yes to the following questions.

• Property built before 1991

• Property is constructed from brick

• Property has less than 100mm (4 inches) of loft insulation ( can you see the joists)

• Property is free from damp and mold issues

• I have permission to insulate the property

If you can answer yes to all of the above then you are more than likely entitled to free insulation.
